Timers & Clocks

Online alarm clock

Add an alarm, pick the days it repeats, choose a sound. Keep the tab open and it rings on time, with snooze and dismiss.

Keep this tab open

A web page can only ring while it is open. If you close the tab, quit the browser, or the device sleeps, the alarm cannot sound. When you come back, anything missed by more than ten minutes is listed instead of ringing late. Keep the device plugged in, the volume up, and this tab open; the screen is kept awake while an alarm is set where the browser allows it. For anything you cannot afford to miss, use your phone’s built-in alarm as well.

How it works

01

Checked against the clock every second

Each alarm’s next occurrence is calculated from the calendar in local time, so daylight saving changes land on the right wall-clock time. An alarm rings exactly once per occurrence — the occurrence is recorded the moment it rings.

02

Honest about sleep and closed tabs

A web page cannot wake a sleeping device or ring after it is closed. If you come back within ten minutes of an alarm, it rings; later than that, it is listed as missed rather than going off long after it was useful.

What it does

Repeating alarms

Once, weekdays, weekends or any set of days.

Snooze and dismiss

Snooze length per alarm, from 1 to 60 minutes.

Sound per alarm

Seven generated sounds, plus volume and a preview in settings.

Screen kept awake

Where the browser allows it, the screen stays on while an alarm is set.

Practical advice

Getting a better result

  • Plug the device in and keep this tab open — that is what makes a browser alarm reliable.
  • Click anywhere on the page once after opening it, so the browser allows sound.
  • For anything you cannot afford to miss, set your phone’s alarm as well.

Questions

Things people ask

Will the alarm ring if my computer is asleep?

No. A sleeping device does not run web pages. When it wakes, an alarm missed by up to ten minutes rings; anything older is listed as missed.

Will it ring if I close the tab?

No — the page has to be open. Your alarms are saved, though, so they are there when you return.

Can I use it as a wake-up alarm?

On a plugged-in device with the tab open and the volume up, yes. The screen is kept awake where the browser supports it. A phone’s built-in alarm is still the more reliable choice for waking up.
